Welcome to the homepage of Bramhall Area Thermal and Slope Soaring Society. We are affiliated to the BMFA.
BATS was formed in 1978 for the pursuit, development and enjoyment of radio-controlled silent flight. The club has a rich history in the field of model aircraft aviation and continues to attract new members and to develop the sport.
We have several flying sites within Cheshire, Derbyshire and The Peak District. Some sites are on shared public land but several of our slope-soaring sites are used with the kind permission of private landowners. These sites are "members only".
The club has developed over the years and our members enjoy active scenes in a variety of model-flying disciplines; thermal-soaring, slope-soaring, indoor flying and electric park-fly.
We also hold regular club meetings through the winter months where guests will speak on a variety of aviation topics.
